Who We Are

The mission of SEARH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage & Hope) Program is to enable vulnerable seniors to remain independent and create a long-term support system to meet their needs. Our main goal is to help our seniors stay in their  own homes as long as possible, by having the support they need from our Program and volunteers, so they can live more independently.

What We Do

Since 1975, SEARCH has provided volunteer services to seniors in Androscoggin County. SEARCH helps seniors feel less isolated and are connected to a caring community, while also remaining independent in their homes. We provide free support services via trained volunteers including friendly visits and companionship, socialization opportunities, transportation for grocery shopping and errands, and to medical appointments, telephone reassurance calls, and information and referrals to other community services and programs. Volunteers spend 3-4 hours a week or bi-weekly with a senior to provide these support services to the client (s) they are matched with.
