Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine is to provide children facing adversity in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset and Waldo Counties with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 14. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential.
