Who We Are
Based in Lewiston, Maine the United Way of Androscoggin County has been proudly serving the local community since 1932.
OUR MISSION
When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That's what it means to Live United.
What We Do
In addition to funding and supporting programs focused on our key building blocks of education, financial stability, and health we also support several initiatives throughout the year. These include:
- Food Pantry Project - we help coordinate food drives with local businesses to help support the area food pantries.
- Touch a Truck - we put on this free event where kids are able to come and interact up close with all sorts of trucks from construction vehicles, to fire trucks, police vehicles, and so much more!
- Backpack Project - we coordinate school supply drives to collect school supplies and stuff backpacks to give to all the school systems in our service area. This year we stuffed 900 backpacks with school supplies!
- Day of Caring - takes place early September each year. We connect business volunteers with volunteer projects in our community. The last year (2023) we had over 300 volunteers participate in our Day of Caring.
