We connect community members with access to local food. Community members are welcome to garden on our parcel of land to grow food for themselves. If they cannot afford the modest member fee, we have a fund to pay it for them. We teach people how to garden successfully, and we also give away food to those in need. We host a youth leadership program to teach youths about gardening, food systems, cmmunity service, and hosting school groups. We host classrooms from local schools, summer camps, and other organizations. We provide a communication hub in our community for all those interested in gardening and local food access.
What We Do
The Mission of the Alan Day Community Garden is to cooperatively create an educational demonstration garden, where people can grow their own food, using organic, sustainable methods to support an enduring community food system. We are a community of gardeners, volunteers, and youth leaders who grow and promote fresh, local food and strong leadership in our community.
