Volunteer: Volunteer tutors needed at Lewiston Public Library!Help kids achieve academic success by offering homework help and general support! The program runs Monday-Thursday and offers drop-in homework help for students in grades 6 -12, with most students in grades 7-10. It runs from 3:30-5:30 and an average of 30 students come every day. It is primarily attended by ELL students from the refugee communities. These are very hard-working students and we are grateful for any time you can commit to helping them. You don?t need to be a math whiz or a spelling bee champ to help out ? and you don't need previous tutoring/teaching experience to apply. A lot of the students just need help understanding what they are reading, writing answers with correct grammar, using the computer to do projects, and learning basic math. Volunteers are provided with initial pre-service training before their first day and then ongoing support throughout the year.
